Home Delivered Meals
Marinette County Elderly Services has a home delivered meal program designed to assist individuals in maintaining maximum independence and to avoid institutionalization. It is a federally funded program receiving dollars through the Older Americans Act.
The Home Delivered Meal Program’ s functions are to:
- Deliver hot and/or frozen meals to homebound elderly with difficulty preparing meals for themselves.
- Provide balanced meals that offer at least one-third of the recommended daily allowance (RDA) of nutrients to promote good health.
- Serve as ongoing personal contact with isolated elderly, assistance with information and resources regarding public health benefits, and referrals to other agencies when necessary.
- Continuous assessment of participants’ safety and wellbeing, in an effort to help maintain independence and confidence in their homes.
